Birth: Sources indicate that John may have been born in Germany. If born in Pennsylvania, probably Miller or Rapho Township of Lancaster County, NOT Susquehanna County.

Census: 1850, age 50 Harrison county, Indiana

Census: 1860, age 60 Haw Creek, Bartholomew county, Indiana

Civil War veteran, enlisting at age 61 in Union army serving two years, during which his wife died and kids all went west. Upon discharge FEB 1863, married second wife starting a second family.

Census: 1870, age 62 (sic) Hartsville, Bartholomew county, Indiana

Occupation: United Brethren Minister 1850 Harrison county, Indiana

Death: in Bartholomew county, Indiana after fall from son-in-law's apple tree.

Married: ABT 1832 in Pennsylvania (not found on the all inclusive marriage listing of Indiana, so most likely were not married in Indiana, according to Mary Ellen Grossman, Bartholomew County Clerk's office. This marriage list was a complete record of early marriages. If married, they most likely married in Pennsylvania, then entered Indiana Territory through Kentucky as did so many others according to history of that area.)
