She was born June 6, 1933, to Cornelius and Bernice (Marshall) Thomas in Southampton, where she was raised and attended school.
In 1951, she married Curtis Flippen. She was a self-employed home-health aide for over 15 years in Riverhead.
According to her family, she was a good cook who loved gardening.
Predeceased by her husband, Ms. Flippen is survived by her children, Debra Turner and Greg, both of Riverhead, and Mark, of Las Vegas, Nevada; her sister, Bernice Proctor of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
