Mr. Eugene Harold Flippin, 79, of Lowgap, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 18, 2017, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. Mr. Flippin was born February 27, 1937, in Surry County, the son of the late Carlis Riley and Annie Elizabeth Flinchum Flippin. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Northern Virginia after many years of service. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Don Frick of Richboro, PA, and Michelle and Robert Scicli of King; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Brian Flippin and Rebecca Paradis of Huntersville; four grandchildren, Stefan Frick, Alyson Frick, Charles Flippin, and Ella Flippin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Scott and Rozena and George Huizinga, all of Lowgap; and a sister-in-law, Judy Flippin of Lowgap. In addition to his parents, Mr. Flippin was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Schuyler Flippin; a grandson, Christopher Scicli; and a brother, the Rev. Jerome Flippin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family will also greet family and friends following the service at the Carlis and Annie Flippin Homeplace at Flippin Farm Lane in Lowgap. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016; or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
