God called an angel home on October 23, 2010. Lakisha Marie Fleming-Ayers was born on August 6, 1973 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. She attended primary school in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and returned to Pensacola Florida graduating from Escambia High School in 1991. She attended the University of Mobile obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing. She graduated summa cum laude, and was inducted into the National Honor Society, International Honor Society, College Of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities (1998, 2002), and Sigma Theta Tau (1998), and Alpha Theta Chi (1998). She returned to State University of New York in 2000 obtaining a Masters's Degree in the specialty of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She worked as a CRNA in Florida, California, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, and Texas where she was working at the time of her death. She served in the US Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps. She served a tour of duty under Operation Iraq Freedom at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Kirchberg, Germany. Lakisha worked as an Adjunct Clinicial Instructor for the RN program at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond and daughter, Francesca Johnson. She was preceded in death by her grandfather and uncle, John and Anthony Fleming. She also leaves to mourn her mother, Debra Barnett (Edward), sister Sequoria Evans, maternal grandmother, Audrey Hogan, unlces, William, Louis, Martin and George (Gloria) LeGrant, aunts Beulah Bennett and Sharolyn Hosea, niece, Brianna Evans, nephew, Nigel Nelson, a host of cousins, a special friend, Shuntay Williams and family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 12:30. Services will be held at New Birth Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel directing.
