CORRIGANVILLE — Allen C. Fleegle, 90, of Corriganville, and residing in Las Vegas, Nev., went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the Nevada State Veterans Home.

Born Dec. 31, 1921, in Corriganville, Mr. Fleegle was the son of the late Vonder Schmidt Fleegle and Esther Elizabeth (Geiger) Fleegle-Paetow. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Paetow; his ex-wife, Alice Marie Kimmel and two brothers, Leo Ray Fleegle; and Vincent Fleegle.

Allen, "Alley or Pappy" as he was known to family and friends, was a United States Army veteran of World War II having served in the 3456th Ordinance Medium Company. While on active duty, Alley earned the Good Conduct Medal; the distinguished Unit Badge; the American Theater Ribbon; the European African Medal for the Easter Theater; the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon; and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was honorably discharge on Jan. 20, 1946, at Fort Meade. The Fleegle family was the last family to take all male members to war before the Government passed laws that one male member had to stay at home to carry on the family name.

Alley retired from Heat and Frost Insulation and Asbestos Local 11 which later became Local 24 and was awarded a pin for 70 years of membership. He was a life-member of the Barrelsville Outdoor Club. Alley was also a member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion; the V.F.W. in Mount Savage and the Frostburg Moose 348.

Alley is survived by a special companion of 24 years, Patricia "Patti" Park; his son, Randy Fleegle and his wife Anayln; his stepson: Bobby Williams and wife Donna; his adored grandson, Allen V. Fleegle; and his step granddaughter, Azzia Williams, all of Las Vegas, Nev. and his sisters: Kathleen Depew, Corriganville and Helen Morgan, of Pala, Iowa. He is also survived by his extended family, Patti's children, Denise Hughson and her daughter, Tiffany Riggleman, Donna Smith and her children, Danny, Shanise, and Don and Julie Ann Park and her daughter, Sierra Lane, all of Cumberland; many loving nieces and nephews; and his canine friends, Fudge and Tyke.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
