Doris E. (Woods) Flautt, 83, of Somerset, died at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Autumn at the Lake with her family by her side.

Doris was born February 23, 1932 in PawPaw, Illinois, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Anderson) Woods.

She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a Registered Nurse for a short time after graduating, then married her devoted husband of 53 years, Dr. Thomas D. Flautt. She utilized her nursing skills in many ways throughout her life, raising her children and caring for family, friends and neighbors.

Doris was a member of the Somerset American Legion Auxiliary Post 58 for more than 50 years. She enjoyed preserving fruits and vegetables, especially those grown in the garden by her husband. She also loved to sew and made many quilted items for family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and later in life especially loved visiting with the grandchildren and great-grand-children, who could always make her laugh and smile.

Surviving are her sons, Roger (Starla) Flautt of Chillicothe, Kevin (Elaine) Flautt of Merritt Island, FL, and David (Lori Wilson) Flautt of Conneaut; daughters, Carolyn (Michael) Forsythe of Thornville, and Beth (Gene) Gable of New Lexington; a brother-in-law, Clarence Martin of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Chrisy (Kurt), Jonathan (Tim), Stephen, Ashley, Dustin (Jen), Amanda (Adam), Shawn (Ali), Megan, Andrew, Jamie (Liz), Floyd (April), Sarah (Bill), Edgar, Jacob and JT; 17 great-grand-children, Aidyn, Chase, Abigail, Lukas, Tatum, Kamdyn, Leah, Cohen, Hallie, Fiona, Bridget, Maura, Thomas, Adelaide, Cecelia, Arlena and Carter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas D. Flautt, who passed away December 31, 2006; her brother, Roger Woods; and a sister, Beverly Martin.

The family would especially like to thank Autumn at the Lake in Thornville and Hospice of Central Ohio for the loving, compassionate care they provided for the past several years.
