Andrew Fitzgerald, Sr., for over fifty years a prominent farmer in Union township, passed away at his home Wednesday evening at 10 o'clock after an illness of only two days' duration. Death was directly responsible to the infirmities of old age.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born December 25, 1835, in County Cork, Ireland. In 1877 he came to Porter county and settled on a farm in Union township. Surviving the decedent are his wife, two sons and four daughters, Michael and John Fitzgerald of Valparaiso, Mrs. M. M. Godsil of Stockton, Cal., Mrs. Albert Neff of Indianapolis, Mrs. Andrew Gast of Valparaiso and Miss Catherine Fitzgerald, at home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning from St. Paul's Catholic church at 9 o'clock fast time with Rev. Father John Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
