Margaret E. Acebo (Fisher) died March 25 at the age of 75.
Mrs. Acebo was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Fresno, Calif., one of three children to Dougald and Mabel Fisher. She grew up in Alameda, where she graduated from Alameda High School in 1950.
She raised four children: Becky, David, Timothy and Michael. Very involved in the community of Alameda, she volunteered her time working with the Alameda Boy Scouts. She was scoutmaster in charge of the Camp Stevens Summer Camp cafeteria for a number of years, feeding and nurturing all the attendees. Mrs. Acebo was one of three to have ever received the Silver Fawn Award from Boy Scouts of America.
She was also very involved with the Alameda Recreation Department. She taught cake decorating for many years through their community support program. She later became owner of Wedding Cakes by Hiser in Hayward. She made and delivered hundreds of wedding cakes too many East Bay residents.
Mrs. Acecbo loved history. She traveled the world to see and touch the many places she studied. She most loved her travels in Scotland, where her family had immigrated. Throughout her life she held close to her Scottish roots. She loved to attend the Scottish games yearly.
In her later years, Mrs. Acebo worked and volunteered her time at the Pleasanton Senior Center. She was a member of the VIP Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending her time with her many friends as they attended all the functions associated with senior life.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William F Acebo Jr.; her four children; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
The family will be holding a celebration of her life at the Pleasanton Senior Center from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
