DISTRESSING AND FATAL ACCIDENT
ELLIS, SON OF MR. AND MRS. MARVIN FISHBACK, FATALLY INJURED BY TRACTOR.

One of the most distressing accidents that has happened in this section for a long time happened on Wednesday of last week, when a tractor turned over and pinned Ellis Fishback beneath it with fatal results.
Ellis had been working in a field on the farm south of town and was riding a tractor. Finishing the day's work rather late in the day he was going to the house and in crossing a ravine in which he had thrown some rails he succeeded in getting the front wheels over the ravine, but the rear wheels spun in the ravine and refused to take him across. As the front of the tractor was higher than the rear it reared up and tipped backward pinning Ellis beneath it. In falling a steering rod broke and penetrated a thigh close to the groin. His father who was some distance away saw that something was wrong and rushed to the scene with four horses he was working and finding his son in the precarious condition he hitched the horses to the tractor and after several attempts he succeeded in lifting it from the prostrate and mangled body. Ellis was hastily taken to the house and a doctor summoned. While the wound was an ugly one, being only a bad flesh wound it was not thought Ellis was fatally injured. Hope was based on the fact that only muscles were torn, no major arteries being severed.
He lingered until Tuesday of this week, when in spite of the efforts of medical skill, and loving hands he passed on
Funeral services were conducted yesterday at 11 o'clock at the Central Methodist church by the pastor, Rev. E. Akers, and burial took place in LaBelle cemetery. The attendance at the funeral was large and the floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
Ellis was an exemplary young man and most highly respected. He was a graduate of LaBelle high school of the class of 24. He leaves a young wife, who with her husband had built on great hopes for the future. Obituary will appear next week.

ELLIS EUGENE FISHBACK.
Ellis Eugene, son of William Marvin and Effie M. Fishback, was born in Lewis county, Missouri, on November 5 [sic], 1906, and died March 20, 1928, aged 21 years, 4 months and 15 days.
He attended school in his home district until he had finished the 8th grade; then entered the high school at LaBelle from which he graduated with the class of 1924. He was a student, always making good grades.
On June 25, 1927, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret A. Sharp, of Hunnewell, Missouri, Rev. J. A. Hughes officiating.
As a boy Ellis was obedient to his parents, always living a clean life building a worthwhile character.
On March 14 he was the victim of a serious accident from which he never recovered. Although all that loving hands could do was done, his loving spirit quietly passed out into the great beyond.
He leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife, a father and mother, one brother, Russell M., one sister, Hazel E.; his aged grandparents, one great grandparent; and a number of relatives and friends.
May the God of all love comfort the broken hearts. Funeral services were held at the Central Methodist church on March 22, conducted by the pastor. Rev. W. E. Akers, and burial was in LaBelle cemetery.
