Helen Curtis Fish, 94, of Thornton Way, Brunswick, ME, died Tuesday, (June 18, 2002) at her home. She was born in Andover, MA, February 26, 1908, the daughter of Charles Laurence and Sarah Anne Morse Curtis. She was educated in Andover schools and graduated from Massachusetts State Teachers College in Bridgewater, MA. She taught elementary education at Adams School in Quincy, MA. In 1932, she married Stanwood Shumway Fish. Mrs. Fish did private tutoring for the Hartford Connecticut Board of Education. She also taught reading at the Children's Village and Newington Home for crippled children. In 1968, she moved to South Freeport and in 1982, she moved to Brunswick. Surviving besides her husband of Brunswick is a son, Stanwood C. Fish of Brunswick; a daughter, Marilyn Fish Dunham of Freeport; a sister, Constance Thomas of Bowdoinham; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 24, 11 a.m. at the South Freeport Church UCC, South Freeport Road, with the Rev. Glen Rainsley officiating. Committal prayers will follow the service at 2 p.m. at the Grove Cemetery Freeport.
