She worked at Jensen's and baked cookies to support herself and eventually moved the rest of her family to the United States. She lived in Bloomfield for over 30 years, before moving to Granby 11 years ago. Jonna waitressed at A.C. Petersen's, Bloomfield for over 20 years before retiring. After retirement, she began her own business, selling books on e-bay. In her spare time she enjoyed reading history books, attending concerts at the Hartford Symphony, antiquing, and tagsaling. She co-owned a horse with her late dear friend, David Blumenthal and enjoyed horseback riding on Hoskins Road in Bloomfield.
Jonna is survived by a son, David S. Bennett of Woodstock, GA; a daughter, Karen S. Pichette and her husband, Michael of West Granby; a brother, Hardy Fischer and his wife, Jette of Bloomfield; two sisters, Else Sorensen of Bloomfield, Doris Carlsen and her husband, Leif of New Hartford; three grandchildren, Jaime Hernandez, Kristina Hernandez, Joey Pichette; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, followed by funeral services at 1:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
