Mildred Fischer Becker, 97, died at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL on Wednesday, (September 25, 2002) after a prolonged illness.

Mildred was born in New York City, NY. She came to Hartford in 1925 as the bride of Hartford native, attorney Harry L. Becker, and lived in Hartford and West Hartford until her terminal year.

She was a homemaker active in charitable organizations and in the functions of her Emanuel Synagogue. She was the last living of ten children in her family generation and outlived her husband and daughter, Enid Becker Kupper.

She is survived by her son, David J. Becker of Indian River Shores, FL; daughters-in-law, Mary Lou Becker of Indian River Shores, Jane Becker of Charlotte, VT; grandchildren, Wendy Fair of West Hartford, Marcie Freeman of Roslindale, MA, John Kupper of West Hartford, Jan Becker of East Middlebury, VT, Meredith Moses of Charlotte, VT, Jennifer Kupper of Windermere, FL, Steven Becker of New York, NY; and great grandchildren, Meghan and Catie Fair, Jaclyn, Daniel and Emily Kupper, John Moses, Carly Kupper and Ivy Becker.

There will be a graveside service at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield, 12 Noon on Friday, September 27, followed by a gathering of friends and family at the home of Wendy and Richard Fair, 9 Linnard Rd., West Hartford. In memoriam contributions may be directed to VNA Hospice House, 901 37th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
