dau of Samuel T. Field &
Sarah H. (Lamson) Field
m. Sanford Boice 4 January 1905
at Shelburne, Mass.
May's obituary was not found online. The Florida state death index lists her death in May 1957 in Mantee county.
She was a resident of Shelburne Falls, Mass. in 1935 as reported in the 1940 U.S. Census when she was listed as a roomer, living in the home of the Wyatts in Bradenton, Manatee, Florida.
She's found in the 1930 U.S. Census in Shelburne Falls, Mass. living with her sister Carrie, and in the 1920 census in Ashfield, Mass. living with her 17 year old nephew, Richard Field.
An article in Thursday, August 22, 1957 edition of the Springfield Union states that up until 2 years before her death at the age of 92 May would spend summers in the Field house on Grove Street in Shelburne Falls. The c.1860 "16-room brick showplace" was built by Nathaniel Lamson, one of the founders of Lamson Goodnow Cutlery. He built the home for his daughter Sarah Lamson, May's mother. The article reports the home was to be torn down to make way for the new Shelburne-Buckland Elementary school. The house was of Georgian style with granite foundation and steps mined at old Smith Quarry in Buckland. It was said to be the first house in town to have an indoor bathroom. It had six fireplaces and a captain's walk from which May's father, Squire Field, an attorney in Shelburne, could view the town.
