HAMPTON - Eric Lane Ferguson, 21, went home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Eric touched many people's hearts in the short time God gave us with him on this Earth. Eric attended Denbigh High School, enjoyed time with friends, music, playing the drums, loved the beach, fishing, and working with his hands-his special gift. Eric was well known for his helping hands. As a youngster, he was always helpful to elderly neighbors for any outside yardwork they needed, with only a "thank you" for his time. He truly loved helping others. Eric was employed at Blackwater Engines and enjoyed his time there with coworkers. He had a passion for taking things apart and putting them back together from the time he was a small boy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bob Amos, and three maternal uncles, Stephen Amos, Brian Amos, and Chris Amos. Eric is survived by his parents, Scot and Julie Ferguson of Hampton; a sister, Jessica Berry of Hampton; a brother, Evan Ferguson and Arielle of San Antonio, TX; his love, Jessica Poole and their son, Carter Lane Ferguson, Eric's "little buddy." They were inseparable. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Virginia Remes; his maternal step-grandmother, Fern Amos Lane; his paternal grandparents, Sil and Odell Moore, and Jim Ferguson; four nieces and nephews, Leo Berry, Sophia Ferguson, Luke Ferguson, and Rosalyn Berry; his step-uncle, Mike Moore; cousins, Jason and Sara Amos; his second family, Karen and Jason Poole; and many extended family.

Family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Olivet Christian Church, 14425 Old Courthouse Way, Newport News, by Rev. Tim Hunt. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
