FREDERICK M FERGUSON
Frederick, also known as Fred, was the son of Lucinda (Boyd) and Calvin Ferguson. He was born and raised in the Eliza, Mercer County, Illinois area. Tragically, Fredrick lost both of his parents in 1871 when he was only two years old and as far as I can tell he was raised by his maternal grandmother.

His siblings included Sarah Elizabeth and Elmore Ferguson. They also had two other siblings that died in infancy.

In the 1870 census, before his parents untimely deaths, Fredrick's maternal grandmother, Catharine (Boyd) Turner, was living with the family in Eliza. In the 1880 census after his parents deaths, Frederick and his sister Sarah are found living with their grandmother, in still located in Eliza Township: Catherine Turner, keeping house, 64, born In, parents born Pa; Sarah Fergason, granddaughter, domestic servant, 19, born Il; Frederik Fergason, grandson, attends school, age 11, born Il; also with them was Narvilla France, farm laborer, age 20, born Il, parents born Ohio. His brother Elmore is living with his mother's brother, Martin Boyd also in Eliza Township.

Both of his parents are buried in Eliza Creek Cemetery in Mercer County, IL. Along with his grandparents, infant brother Jimey Ferguson, born 1862, and died Sept 27, 1865 and new born sister Catharine Ferguson, born 1863, and died Aug 12, 1863 and other relatives.

Fred was married twice. First to Emma Bogart, daughter of Mary (Riggs) and Jesse Bogart. They were married on Mar 21, 1889 in Muscatine, Iowa. To this union was born; Earl & Mamie, also a son & daughter that both died in infancy and are buried in the Eliza Creek Cemetery.

I'm not sure what happened to Emma but I'm guessing she died before 1900 since her two surviving children are living with her parents in Eliza.

About 1903 Fred was married to Nellie Miller, and to this union was born three more children; Hazel, Alma and Gilbert. For a short time after their marriage Fred and Nellie lived in Muscatine, Iowa. The 1910 census lists them living at Seventy-Six St, Muscatine, Iowa. FAMILY #2: Fred M Ferguson 39 b. IL, Head of House, occupation Black Smith doing general work; wife Nellie Ferguson 27 b. IL; Their children Hasel M 6 b.IL, Alma G 4 b.IA & Gilbert R 2 b. IA. Fred's children by 1st wife are also back with him; Earl 18 b. IL, Farm Laborer & Mamie 15 b. IL is listed as a servant for a private family. By the 1920 census Fred's family has migrated to Texas where he would remain until his death. They lived in the El Campo, Wharton County area for several years. On Fred's death certificate it says he was still a blacksmith by trade.

Fred died at the age of 72 on Nov 25, 1941 at the Robert B Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Cause of death is listed as a Cerebral Hemorrhage.
