Daniel Fenton Dies, Former Boardmember

Daniel P. Fenton, age 86, life- long resident of this county died Friday afternoon at the St. Joseph hospital following a lingering illness.

Mr. Fenton was well known over the county and had been a member of the Appanoose County Board of Supervisors at one time.

He was born seven and a half miles north of Plano on June 21, 1884 the son of Stephen A. D. and Caroline Corder Fenton. On Nov­ember 1896 he was united in mar­riage to Mary L. Miller who preceded him in death just one year ago on October 7, 1959.

Mr. Fenton was a member of the Chariton River Baptist Church and the Oddfellows lodge. He was prominent in the northwest part of the county for many years and later over the county,
He is survived by four sons, Dr Robert L. Fenton, of Center­ville; Stephen D. Fenton, Davenport, Everett O. Fenton, of Des Moines, and Theodore R. Fenton, of Kansas City. His two sons Ste­phen and Everett became notable educational figures in Iowa. E. O. established the American Institute of Business at Des Moines and Stephen was head of the Ameri­can Institute of Commerce Davenport. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 13 great­-grandchildren.

There are two daughters, Elma Campagna, of Forest Park, Illinois and Oda Wyland, of Los Angeles, California Mr. Fenton was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois D, Fenton, and two daughters in infancy.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m from the Johnson Funeral Home, with the Rev. DeWitt Foster officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
