Linda Maxine Felts Balch, age 64, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, October 30, 2006 in the De Queen Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born October 6, 1942 in Batesville, AR to Alvis and Pearl Wilson Felts. She was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Eastern Star. She served on the City Board of Directors and Election Commission; she was a former Sevier County Justice of Peace, and a member of the Audubon Society.

Mrs. Balch was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James I. Balch and her parents.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Craig and Ying Hua Gao-Balch of North Little Rock, AR, and John and Mary Balch of Murfreesboro, AR; one daughter, Lisa Balch of New Hope, AR; two sisters, Norma Sorensen-Brownell of Cherokee Village, AR, and Wilma Cain of Congress, AZ; one nephew, Jim Smith of De Queen; her longtime companion, Mark Price of De Queen; four grandchildren, Cloann Jones, Chaz Balch, Sutton Balch, and Mary Grace Balch; and one great-granddaughter, Jaycie Jones.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Balch will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2006 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Rockey Starnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1st at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the local Humane Society.
