-David Farnsworth was born October 25, 1809 in Belmont County, Ohio; died August 28, 1900, aged 90 years, 10 months, three days, at the home of his daughter, Maria Pittman, in Appanoose County, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Brewer in Belmont County, Ohio, on the 28th day of December 1838 [sic - should be 1828]. His wife departed this life July 27, 1882. Their union was blessed with 10 children, eight of whom are still living. There has been born to him 61 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, thus reaching the fifth generation. During the last 15 years of his life he was afflicted with blindness. During this time he was never known to complain. He became a Christian in early life and for 70 years has been an example to all. He was fully prepared to go, as for many years he had been anxiously awaiting the summons. For a few years after being afflicted with blindness he made his home with daughter, Charlotte Daily, in the state of Kansas, but the last 12 years of his life were spent with his second daughter, Maria Pittman, near Exline, Appanoose County, Iowa.
