Ruby Christine Fahning Schnautz peacefully met her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours Tuesday, April 21, 2009. She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Denhawken, Texas, and died at the beautiful age of 77.

Ruby was fond of German polka music, open-air festivals, and nature. She was always there with a quick comment that was so from the heart, it was more than welcomed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Auguste Zimmerman Fahning; her father, Otto Fahning; and her husband, Frank Wilbur Schnautz, whom she married April 20, 1958.

Ruby is survived by her sister, Mary Fales; her brother, Otto William Fahning Jr.; son Gerald Schnautz of San Antonio; and daughters Brenda Clarke and husband Keith of Helotes and Norma Saenz and husband Mike of San Antonio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sydney, Courtney, Kyle, and Sarah Saenz; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as her Morningside Ministries family.

A funeral service was held Thursday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Gerald Schnautz, Keith Clarke, Leon Kyrish, Alvin Sunday, Jon Sunday, and Steve Castro.
