Betty I. Eveland, 72, Paris, died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday (May 8, 2003) at the Paris Community Hospital. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (May 12) at the Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Dixon will officiate and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Kansas. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday (May 11) at the Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in her name to the First Christian Church.
Mrs. Eveland was born June 4, 1930, in Paris, the daughter of Charles William Perry and Myrtle Irene Bishop Perry. She married Charles Eveland October 29, 1949, in Paris, and he survives. Other survivors include a son, Charles Dennis Eveland of Los Angeles, Calif; two daughters, Betty Jean Scroggin of Mt. Pulaski and Janice Kay Peterson of Paris; a brother, Roy L. Perry of Paris; and four sisters, Mary I. Cash of Vermilion, Rosalie Givens and Lorene Fudge, both of Paris and Cathy Melendez of Nevada. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers.
Mrs. Eveland was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the VFW 3601 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary.
