She was an active member of Orr Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and led Bible Study Groups. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a great supporter of the Alabama Baptist Children's Homes. She began her career with the Bishop Floral Company and later founded Evan's Flowers in downtown Alexander City.
