GATES - Malene Umphlett Eure , 73, of Route 1, Box 282, died Aug. 26, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
A native of Gates County, she was the daughter of Hagwood Umphlett and Della Eure Umphlett. She was the widow of Quinton Felton Eure . She was a member of Eure Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Eure of Franklin, Va., Dwight Eure of Gatesville; two brothers, Robert E. Umphlett and Lilton Umphlett of Gates; six grandchildren, Brock Eure , Aaron Eure , Clay Eure , Jennifer Eure , Jody Boyce, Keith Boyce; two stepgrandchildren, Chris Myers and Monica Myers.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Umphlett Family Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at Mrs. Eure 's residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
