Rena Essary Ball, age 70, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was born in Dyer County, Tennessee, on January 27, 1937, to Andrew and Myrtle (McClain) Essary. She was a retired hair dresser and health worker, and a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Rena was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Ball of Millington, Tennessee; one sister, Lillie Dohra of Greers Ferry; her longtime companion, Earl Layne and his special grandson (her boy), Spencer Layne, both of Greers Ferry; also Earl's other children and grandchildren. Rena is survived by many other nieces and nephews. Those from Greers Ferry include Jo Kriese and husband, Bill; Kim and Tatum White; Carl Essary and Eddie Sellers, and a brother-in-law, Bill Douglas. In addition to many other relatives and friends, she is survived by a special aunt, Evelyn McClain, a special friend, Mary Prestage, and the girl she cared for – "her Pam".
