Doris Marea (Ervin) Ellis, Harrisonville, MO, born Nona Barrow to Naomi Barrow on Sept. 17, 1917 at The Willows Home in Kansas City, MO. She went to be with her Lord on Nov. 13, 2010 at 93 years of age after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard M. Ellis; adopted parents, Walter and Elizabeth Ervin; brothers: Lloyd, Buford, and John Ervin; sister, Genevieve Eisel; and grandson, Raymond Troy (Ellis) Shonk. Survived by daughter, Janice Marie (Harry) Reeves, Overland Park, KS; sons: Lawrence Jean (Connie), Prescott, AZ; James Richard (Charlene), Wichita, KS; Garry Don (June), Fountain Valley, CA; Terry Dee (Billie), Arvada, CO; nieces, Juanita Fleming, Overland Park, KS; Sharon (Larry) Wiers, Kingsville, MO; close friends, Carol and Rocky Meads, Harrisonville, MO. Doris left a wonderful legacy of 16 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren. She was a member of East Lynn Baptist Church. She is known locally as the "Lady of the Lake" because of the fishing lake on the property. Doris loved her family, studying her Bible, going to church, dining out, fishing, playing cards, cooking, and watching baseball. Doris was always gracious, grateful, and loving. A memorial service will be conducted at East Lynne Baptist Church, 25713 S. State Route K, Harrisonville, MO, at 11 a.m., Dec. 11, 2010, followed by family graveside service at Holden Cemetery.
