Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30pm on Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Mark Leif Eriksson, 45, of St. Cloud who died in an auto accident in Mexico on Thursday, November 15, 2012.
Mark was born on August 5, 1967 in Edina to Mark and Vicki (Fenelon) Eriksson. He attended St. Cloud State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Mark met the love of his life there in 1988, and on June 8, 1996 he married Karla Jarmoluk at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka. Mark showed an early fascination for all things mechanical. He loved the sound of an engine and before he was 16 Mark owned 5 cars, including a 1967 GTO. In 1994 Mark took his love of mechanical engineering and innovation to the next level: he started his own business, Talon Innovations in Sauk Rapids. There he was a prolific inventor and innovator, authoring seven patents for designs used in high purity gas control for semiconductor manufacturing processes. His technical insight, vision, charisma, and attention to detail catalyzed the growth of Talon into a successful business that now provides work to over 80 employees.
Mark had high expectations of himself and others, but he was very tender-hearted and cared for everyone in his life. He loved spending time with Karla and their two boys, and was very proud of them. He enjoyed guiding and teaching Trevor and Trent the tools they will use throughout their lives, and was involved in Boy Scouts, particularly enjoying the Pinewood Derby, shooting, hunting and camping with his boys. He loved food and cooking and was an accomplished grill-master. Mark was a member of the Sweaty Betty band, in which he played guitar. With his love of music and innovation, he "turned his amp to 11." His energy and spirit were at once omnipresent, contagious, and irresistible; he will be dearly missed.
Mark is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 16 years, Karla Eriksson of St. Cloud; sons, Trevor and Trent; parents, Mark (Christina) Eriksson of Minnetonka, Vicki Eriksson of Eden Prairie; brother, Chris (Stephanie) Eriksson of Orono; grandfather, James M. Fenelon of Eden Prairie; mother and father-in-law, Kay and Tony Jarmoluk of Elk River; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James S. and Lucille Eriksson; and maternal grandmother, Cleo Fenelon.
