Death: Jan. 28, 2008, USA

FRANCES GUY ERICKSEN, 92, went to be with her Lord on January 28, 2008. The daughter of a Methodist minister, she moved throughout the state when she was young before settling in Tampa. There, she married Robert H. Mackenzie, Jr. and had two sons, Robert and Michael. Widowed at an early age, she later married George W. Ericksen, a prominent Tampa attorney, and had a daughter, Nancy. Frances and George moved to Homosassa Springs in 1998. George passed away in 2001; they had been married 50 years. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Frances never met a stranger. She embraced life, Jesus, and almost anyone who came within her sphere of influence. Her love for people was expressed in her work for the American Field Service, an international exchange program, and her role in organizing countless prayer groups throughout her life. She was an enthusiastic member of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa and active for many years in Methodist Lay Witness missions. Her sense of humor and hospitality endured through crisis and ill health.

Frances is survived by her sister, Patricia Andes of Glenview, IL; her children, Robert H. Mackenzie, III of Tampa, G. Michael Mackenzie of Dunedin, and Nancy E. Wright of Gainesville; her grandchildren, Robert H. Mackenzie, Jr. of Atlanta, Kimberly McCraney of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kathryn Hodges of Atlanta, Mark and Michael Mackenzie, both of Palm Harbor; Shannon Lincoln of St. Petersburg, and J.D. and Joanna Wright of Gainesville, along with a number of great-grandchildren.

She left us with her unique wisdom and a lifetime supply of great stories to share.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 West Bradshaw St., Homosassa, FL 34448. Arrangements are under the care of Wilder Funeral Home, (352) 628-3344. Anyone whishing to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers may donate to the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa.
