Donna Mae Engelsen, 80, of Pennington, MN died on Friday, January 14, 2011 at her home in Moose Lake Township. Graveside Services will be held in the spring at Wildwood Cemetery in Moose Lake Township. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born on November 3, 1930 in Eagle Bend, MN, the daughter of Erma and Phillip Swanson. She moved to Belvidere, IL with her parents in the late 1930's and was raised and educated there. She married Raymond Engelsen on June 27, 1949 at Belvidere, IL. In April of 1963 they moved to Moose Lake near Pennington, MN where they built and operated a small fishing resort, the "Farm Resort", until the fall of 1997. They then retired on Moose Lake with their pet dog "Duchess" and cat "Pussycat". She had served for 6 years as Moose Lake Township clerk.
She is survived by her 2 brothers, Marvin (Rachel) Swanson of Fayetteville, NC and Robert (Eleanor Swanson of Belvidere, IL; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Virginia (Jess) Wilcowski and their children of Pennington. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on Oct. 20, 2000.
