Mary married Joseph Moss on November 27, 1859. Fighting with Company A, 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry he was killed during the Civil War in the second Battle of Bull Run, also called Manassas. He is believed to be buried there at the battlefield, Manassas, Virginia. There is also a memorial stone here at Mt Carmel Cemetery for him.
