Laveta Pearl Ellison, 89, of Kahoka, MO was called home to the Lord and her husband Bill Thursday, September 22, 2011. Laveta was living out her last days with her daughters and son-in-law in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

She was born on October 8, 1921 in St. Patrick, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Laveta Logsdon. On September 18, 1941 she married the "love of her life," William Edward Ellison in St. Patrick, MO.

Laveta dedicated her entire life to her family. She and Bill had 6 children. Laveta spent many hours washing clothes, cooking, helping with homework, celebrating accomplishments, setting down "the law" and teaching her children about God and how we should all take care of one another. Her hard work paid off as she witnessed the birth and development of 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She has had the good fortune of holding each one as a baby, watching them "give back to their parents" as toddlers and some as teens and being surrounded by their love and affection. Her greatest pride and joy was family!

She has been a member of St. Patrick Church in St. Patrick, MO; St. John's Church in Bettendorf, IA; St. John's Church in Newburgh, IN; and St. Michael's Church in Kahoka, MO. In addition to being with and taking responsibility for her family, Laveta loved to travel with Bill. She enjoyed time with special friends and sitting outdoors taking in the sounds and sights of nature.

Laveta is survived by her six children: Lamont R Ellison and his wife Darcy of Evansville, IN; Marsha Ellison and her husband Carl Ennis, of Eureka Springs, AR; Michelle Elam of Cedar Rapids, IA; Martin Ellison and wife Cindy of Newburgh, IN; Mitchell Ellison and his wife Carla of Newburgh, IN and Mark Ellison and his wife Sondra of Franklin, TN; eight grandchildren: Shon Elam, Jennifer Welsh, Bryan Ellison, Jessica Ellison, Lukas Ellison, Will Ellison, Emily Ellison and Kayla Ellison; and three great-grandchildren; Emma Lynn Welsh; Raeanne Scott Welsh and Taylor Ann Elam along with her sister in law, Anna Logsdon of St. Patrick, MO. All of her family knows Laveta is home with our Lord and Bill but all will miss her dearly.

Laveta was preceded in death by her father, Raymond; her mother, Laveta and her brother, Larry.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, MO with Father Hartley officiating. Burial was in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Patients Choice Hospice.
