Cecile Catherine Lackey Ellis, 71, of Canvas, Nicholas County, passed away Dec. 9, 2007, at Summersville Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 10, 1936, at West Logan and was the daughter of the late Leonard Sr. and Bertie Jeffrey Lackey. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Clara B. Chappell.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Summersville. She was a 1954 valedictorian of Logan High School and was a 1950 Golden Horseshoe recipient.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ellis; four daughters, Laura Poff of Summersville, Terri Lakin of Lincoln Park, Mich., Patricia (Mike) Erdei of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Judith Kiselis of Trenton, Mich.; three brothers, Leonard "Bill" Lackey Jr. of London, Ky., David Lackey of Richwood and John Lackey of Summersville; one sister, Lila L. Stokley of Barboursville; six grandsons and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at White Funeral Home, Summersville, with Pastor Butch Collins officiating. Graveside committal and interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
