Hazel Elliott Best, 85, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 8, 2011, at Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.

She was born July 24, 1925 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Jessie Quick Elliott.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she had served as church secretary and had been a member of the Ellenton, Fla. UM Church. She worked at Automatic Stokes-Wolfe Engineering, the Manatee County Estension Services of Palmetta, Fla., the Smith Motor Company in Austin, Texas and Parkersburg Floral Company. Hazel loved and enjoyed cats.

Surviving is her nephew, Tim (Becky) Stephens of Belpre; an aunt, Tennesse Mahoney and several cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ordella Stephens.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, Pastor Randall Fuson will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
