Vera M. Baack, 90, of Craig, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
The former Vera Mae Elliott, she was born Aug. 31, 1906, at Salix, the daughter of Merrill and Zora (Galland) Elliott. As a young child, she moved with her family to Craig, where she received her education in the Craig school and Hawarden school. On June 14, 1928, she married Walter Baack in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Craig. Mr. Baack died in 1968. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanine Grasz and her husband, Orval, of Craig, and Marilyn Giffin of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hazel Schackelett; and two brothers, Donald and Glen Elliott.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at St. John Lutheran Church in Craig. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation was after 7 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Pallbearers were Jim Grasz, Blaine Giffin, Matt DeVries, Seth Grasz, Dennis Elliott and Doug DeRocher.
