Juanita Kirk Elliott, 74, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, October 9, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Health Care. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Rev. Ronnie Lunsford officiating. Interment will follow in Gause Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Juanita was born July 9, 1936 in Gause to Obie Sr. and Katie (Jones) Kirk. She was actively involved in her community volunteering at Crestview Retirement Community and the Bryan City Marshall's office. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Hearne, Bryan Citizen Police Academy Alumni, Northview Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Juanita retired after 38 years of service driving the rural mail route in Hearne.

Juanita lived life to the fullest, she had many hobbies and was involved in many activities including, bowling, square dancing, hunting, cooking and fishing. Her favorite spot was being with Richard on their lake property at Lake Limestone. She and Richard loved to travel they made sure to visit every state on the main land. She was also known to be a "shudder bug" taking hundreds of photos of family, friends and places she visited. Two great loves in Juanita's life was a good cold Dr. Pepper and George Strait.

Her parents precede Juanita in death.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Elliott of Bryan; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Debbie Taylor of Bryan, Chesley "Guber" and Theresa Taylor of Huntsville, Karl and Ellen Taylor of College Station; daughter, Kathryn Boykin of Bryan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Floyd Hafley of Bryan, June and Gene Huff of College Station, Kay and Howard Watson of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Weldon and Edna Kirk of Bryan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Minnie and Charles Gardner, Wanda and Charles Todd, all of Bryan; grandchildren, Brandi Doshier, Kerri Thorp, Karl Alan Taylor, Kody Taylor, Ben Boykin, Kasey Boykin, Mike Trowbridge and David Trowbridge, Jennifer Snodgrass; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
