Helen Louise Laviolette, 96, of West Lafayette, died at 1:54 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Westminster Health Care.
Born Sept. 8, 1914, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marguerite Dickson Elliott.
She served in the Army from 1943 to 1945.
She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1936 and her master's in library science from Purdue University in 1966.
On Nov. 7, 1946, she married Francis A. Laviolette in Martinsville. He died Dec. 23, 1984.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cosmopolitan Club and Purdue Womens Club and was an avid duplicate bridge player.
Surviving is a son, Dr. Robert J. Laviolette (wife: Sonnie) of Zionsville.
Also surviving are 3 grandsons, Matthew (wife: Caroline), Nicholas (wife: Melissa) and Benjamin Laviolette. Preceded in death by a son, John Laviolette; and a brother, Joseph Elliott.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47906 with Rev. Daniel J. Berger officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Green Lawn Cemetery in Martinsville.
