"Mrs Anna Ellenberger Bender, 80, of 429 5th St NW, New Philadelphia died at 9:15 last night in her home of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered last Friday.
She was born near Ragersville, a daughter of John and Sophia Harshman Ellenberger and taught school in Jefferson Township before she was married in 1897 to the late Joseph Bender. She resided near Baltic until eight years ago when she moved to New Philadelphia. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethern, Ladies Aid Society and Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a son, Russell Bender of New Philadelphia, a daughter, Mrs Glen Shutt of Baltic; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a sister Miss Liza Ellenberger of the home. One son, one sister and one brother are deceased.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 pm in the Evans Funeral Home and at 2:30 in the Fiat St Peters church with the Rev Willis Stehman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7pm Thursday and Friday afternoon and night."
