He transferred with Whirlpool to the Fort Smith plant as a foreman in the tool and die department. He retired in 1986 and became an avid gardener.
He was a member of Woodlands United Methodist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 615 in Barling and an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II.
Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. Graveside service with military honors will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a daughter, Brenda Kuehn and her husband Steve of Viera, Fla.; two sons, Gary Edwards and his wife Connie of Viera and Ronald “Joe” Edwards of Booneville, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy Lawrence of California; as well as 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
