MATT EDWARDS DEATH
Though in Ill Health For Some Time Moulton Resident's Sudden Death Comes as Shock
One of Moulton's most prominent citizens, Matt Edwards, passed away at his home in North Main street last night at 9:00 o'clock. He had been in failing health for some time but his condition was not considered serious until late last night.
He was 81 years old at the time of his death, having lived in Moulton and that vicinity practically all his life. He is sadly mourned by his many friends and relatives. No funeral arrangements have yet been made. He is surivived by his wife.
Mr. Edwards was born April 10, 1850 in Missouri and in 1904 married Etta Wight and moved to Moulton. There he conducted an extensive livestock business and for 30 years was president of the Moulton State Savings bank. He was active in community affairs of Moulton and is widely known thru-out the county. He is survived by his wife, two children Rev. Fred Edwards of Perry and Mrs. Will Votaw of Muscatine. He has long been affiliated with both the Mason and Odd Fellows lodge taking part in their activities and undertakings.
