Wilda was born on Sept. 26, 1916, in Utica, Kan., the oldest of three children born to Clarence and Minnie (Askew) Young. The family moved to the Filer/Wendell/Twin Falls area. After graduation from Twin Falls High School in 1935, she went to business school in Gooding.
In 1940 she graduated from the Consolidated Deaconess School of Nursing, Montana Deaconess Hospital, Great Falls. Ralph also went there to work. They were married in White Sulphur Springs, Mont., June 6, 1940, and have been happily married for 70 years.
She was an RN at the Samaritan Hospital and for 10 years at the Mangum Clinic in Nampa. She also worked at the Idaho State School & Hospital and other places, including private duty nursing. She was a great pediatric nurse.
Wilda was devoted to teaching Sunday School at the Methodist Church, and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts.
She enjoyed all sorts of crafts, especially origami. She crocheted beautiful Christmas angels. She relished traveling, camping, and spending time at their cabin on Thorn creek.
She loved children and doing activities with them - especially her grandchildren. They delighted in baking cookies and flying kites together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two younger brothers, Elmer and Edgar Young; a daughter, Lourena Mae Edgerton, and a grandson, Kent Edgerton.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; sons, Larry (Lynette), of Nampa and Milton (Janice) Edgerton, of Meridian; grandchildren, Kevin (Alice) Edgerton, of south central Asia, Todd (Jennifer) Edgerton, of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Dale (Rose) Edgerton, of Brentwood, Tenn., Janine (Daryl) Habersetzer, of Boise, Carl (Geri) Edgerton, of Boise, Brian (Mary) Edgerton, of Boise, Angela (Tim) Vaughn, of Caldwell, Nathan (Melissa) Edgerton, of Security, Colo., and Brandon Edgerton, of Boise; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the United First Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave Rd., Nampa, ID 83686 with Pastor John Watts officiating. A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, Idaho.
