Mrs. Charles A. Eckler
Mrs. Charles A. Eckler, aged eighty-two years, died wednesday morning at her home in Middlefield. She had been an invalid for a number of years.
Mrs. Eckler's maiden name was Mary J. Marsh; a daughter of James and Sarah (Roberts) Marsh, natives of Yorkshire, England, where they grew up and married. They came to the United States in a fishing vessel, being nine weeks at sea. Mrs. Eckler was born in New York City, September 30th, 1837. She was brought to Otsego county by her parents when she was three years old. Mrs. Eckler was twice married, her first husband, A. Eckler, a brother of Charles A., died March 25th, 1866. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. A. Eckler, Isabelle, who married Arthur Borst of Oneonta, and Cora M., who died at the age of twenty-four years, after her marriage to R. Stanton, and left one child, Maud M.
On December 25th, 1872, Mrs. Eckler was married to Charles A. Eckler, who survives her. Miss Sarah Marsh of Cooperstown is a sister of the deceased.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Eckler home, the Rev. T.F. Hall, D.D., a personal friend of the family, officiating.
