Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Naples Ward Chapel for Mrs. Rose Merrell Eaton, 90, who died Sunday at 5:15 a.m. in a Vernal rest home of natural causes.

Prayer at the mortuary was offered by Phillip Watkins. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Oris Pope. Opening song, "Whispering Hope" was sung by a double duet, Mrs. Norda Cook, Reve Risner, Elva Bowthorpe and Francis Southam accompanied by Oris Pope.

Invocation was offered by Curtis Hadlock followed by an address by Archie Johnson. A vocal solo entitled "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung by Glade Sowards accompanied by Oris Pope after which a talk was given by Reed Beck of Salt Lake City. Closing song "In The Garden" by the double duet and benediction was offered by President J. Ross Merrell.

Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery with dedication of the grave by Frank Merrill. Pallbearers were her great-grandsons, Dennis, Lonnie and Terry Hadlock, Danny Robbins, Tommy Murray and Kenneth Beck.

Survivors include two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Carl (Minerva) Hadlock, Mrs. Hugh (Victoreen) Johnson, Elmer, all of Vernal; Merrell B., Fruita, Colorado; Lawrence, Hayward, California; 21 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Fuller Merrell, Salt Lake City; Elwin, Franklin R., both of Vernal; Mrs. Albert (Liddy) Goodrich, Moses Lake, Washington.

Mrs. Eaton was born January 26, 1871 in Paradise, Cache County, a daughter of Porter William and Harriet Remington Merrell. She married Elmer Beckwith Eaton, November 23, 1891. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died December 14, 1911 in Vernal.

Mrs. Eaton was an active member of the LDS Church and was well known throughout the years to Vernal residents for her kindness to people and her congenial personality.
