Eliza Early, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Early, was born in Harper's Ferry, Jefferson County, Virginia (now considered part of West Virginia) on March 11, 1807. She moved with her mother to Pickaway County, Ohio and then to Franklin County, Ohio.
Eliza first married Jacob Elmore, and they had a son, David A. Elmore, who was born in Ohio in 1829. Jacob accidentally drowned in the Illinois River near Beardstown. Second, Eliza married John Acker on March 29, 1832 in Morgan County, Illinois, and they raised eight children, plus David: William Culbert, John, Eliza (died as infant), Nathaniel Early, Jacob Molar, Mary Eliza, Samuel Dexter Howite and Sarah Elizabeth. Two of the children were born in Cass County.
Eliza and John moved to Ogle County, Illinois in 1838. John Acker's name is listed in the 1840 Census record for Oregon Precinct, Ogle County, Illinois. They remained there for many years, and moved further west to Cass County, Iowa in the early 1870's, finally settling in Knox, Pottawattamie County, Iowa in 1880.
Eliza died August 5, 1880, in Avoca, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, and was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
