W. E. Earls, 87, Retired Textile
Worker, dies in Roanoke Hospital
W. E. Earls, 87, of 9 Miller Street, Plant City, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ranolph County Hospital, Roanoke, Ala., following a serious illness of two weeks. He had been declining in health for several months.
Mr. Earls, a native of Tennessee, had been a resident of the Valley since 1914. He was retired from the Langale Mill Division of West Point Manufacturing Company since 1952, and was a member of the Plant City Baptist Church.
Funeal will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Plant City Baptit Church. Burial will be in the Shawmut Cemetry, with Johnson and Blakely Funeral Home of Lanett in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leon Beddingfield, of Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Maggie Lee Shelnuutt of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four sons, the Rev. Jay Earls and Henry A. Earls, both of Shawmut, William A. Earls of West Point and Marvin J. Earls of Fairfax; a brother, Bruner Ealrs of Stroud, Ala.,; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
