Charles H. Earhart, 78, died at 4 p.m. Friday at the home of his son, Lacy Earhart, at Spottswood following a lingering illness. His wife preceded him in death in December 1948.

He is survived by four sons, William and Frank of Clarksburg, W. Va.; Lacy, Spottswood; Louis, Greenville; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Wenger, Spring Hill; Mrs. Susie McFadden, Glasgow; Mrs. D. H. Almarode, Waynesboro; Mrs. Amelia Swink, Germantown, Md.; Mrs. Nancy Earhart, Spottswood; and brothers, Walter E., Route One, Raphine, Emmett, Steele's Tavern; Clarence, Craigsville; Ollie, Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Mrs. William Thompson, Raphine.

The body will remain at the Rosen Funeral Home until the hour of service. Funeral service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Old Providence Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Charles Henry Earhart passed away at the home of his son, Lacy Earhart, near Spottswood on September 1st. He was born September 29, 1871 and had spent his entire life in the community. He was a life long member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian church. On November 8, 1893 he married Miss Eva Brown, who preceded him in death, December 21, 1948.

He is survived by nine children: William B. and C. Frank of Clarksburg, W. Va.; Lacy and Mrs. Nancy Earhart of Spottswood; Louis of Greenville; Mrs. Mary Almarode, Waynesboro; Mrs. Susie McFadden, Glasgow; Mrs. Amelia Swink, Rockville, Md.; and Mrs. Helen Wenger of Spring Hill. Twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. There are also surviving the following brothers and sisters: W. E. of Raphine; Ollie of Baltimore; Clarence of Craigsville; Luther of Greenville; Emmett of Steeles Tavern; and Mrs. Carrie Thompson of Raphine.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Old Providence church with the Rev. James Mays officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
