Mr. Barney E. Dyson, 66, of Springfield died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Dyson was born March 7, 1923, in Urbana, the son of Elmer and Carrie Poll Dyson.
He married Guinelle Hosier in 1942 and was a resident of Springfield since 1942.
He was formerly employed by the Illinois State Lottery, retiring in 1979.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Wayne; and one sister, Ethel Dyson.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Cape Coral, Fla., Elks Lodge 158, The Blue Ridge Club, and was a veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Stuart (Beverly) Vost of Springfield and Rea Moreno of El Toro, Calif.; one son, Dennis A. Dyson of Sherman; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William (Rachel) Jones of Decatur, Mrs. Ray (Vernice) Funk of Monticello and Elsie Reed of Champaign; two brothers, Marion of White Heath and Willard of Monticello; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. William Pruitt officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
