Mrs. Maggie Frances Dye Brown, age 84, of the Lynn Springs section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday morning (July 18,1998) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born May 27, 1914 in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Stewart and Rachel (Dora) Ellen Miller Dye. A lifelong resident of Russell County, she was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Perry Brown; three sisters, Ethel Brown, Myrtle Emily Dye, and Jettie Dye; and six brothers, Patton Dye, Floyd Dye, Dewey Dye, Fred Dye, Marshall Dye and Walter Dye.

Survivors include, one daughter and son-in- law, Mildred and Bobby Hale of Swords Creek; one son and daughter-in-law, Tivis and Mary Brown of Swords Creek; three sisters, Exie Hale and Elizabeth Brown both of Swords Creek, and Lona Stiltner of Abingdon, Virginia; three grandchildren, Mark Brown, Melissa Barton and Robbie Hale; one great-granddaughter, Tiffani Hale.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Jerry Rasnake and Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers were Bill Brown, Joe Dye, Stanley Brown, Dannie Dye, Cecil Dye, Larry Miller, Jerry Dye, and Danny Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Peirz, Dr. H. C. Scott, Freddie Smith, Patrick Johnson, Albert Jones, James Hale, Carson Brown, Garland Brown, Clarence Whited, and Limuel Dye.
Honaker Funeral Home was in charge.
