Obit

DuVall - Entered into rest September 15, 1881, at 1:35 o'clock p.m. Mr. James M. DuVall, an old resident of East Washington in the 66th year of his age. May his soul rest in peace. Funeral on Sunday the 18th inst. from his late residence, 743 13th Street Southeast at 3 o'clock p.m. Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend. Enlisted in the army April 25, 1847 in Baltimore during the Mexican War. In Volunteer Regt. D, Co. K - discharged August 7, 1848 from Fort Hamilton, N.Y. - Corporal. Five feet five inches tall, hazel eyes, brown hair, fair complexion.

Was a Fifer in the USMC during the Civil War. Headstone provided by the government for deceased Civil War Veterans.

Buried next to his wife and daughter.
