17 FEB 2021 SAC with daughter's information; created memorial. ~Celia Durbin, longtime Tonkawa resident, died Saturday afternoon, May 2, 1998, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Ponca City. She was 82.
The funeral will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 5, 1998, in the Tonkawa First Christian Church. Dr. John Barlett, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery under direction of McCafferty-Bolick Funeral Home, Tonkawa.
Celia (Foos) Durbin was born Nov. 13, 1915, on the family farm near Medford to Jacob and Bertha (Stassen) Foos. She grew up in the Medford area and attended Grant County schools. She moved to Tonkawa in the 1940s where she graduated from University Preparatory School.
On Jan. 16, 1946, she was married to William D. Durbin and they made their home in Tonkawa. She had been a member of the Tonkawa Christian Church for 50 years.
Mrs. Durbin is survived by one daughter, Betty Durbin of the home; one son, Billy Durbin of Tonkawa; and two sisters, Bessie Swords and Ann Cox, both of Tonkawa; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and one brother.
