He is survived by his wife Jane; son Keith (Val) Dunlap of Springfield; daughter Melinda Dunlap of Baltimore, MD; step-sons, Kevin (Sue) Heller of Acworth, GA, Dr. Kurt (Cara) Heller of Jacksonville; step-daughter Kristi (Richard) Ganschow of Pekin; grandchildren, Anna (Tom) Keck, Katie Dunlap, Todd (Jessi) Heller, Kelsey and Scott Heller, Jessica (Brett) Kinkead, Cody Oltman; great-grandchildren, Emma and Sara Keck, Laila and Abbey Kinkead; sister Carol (Perry) Courtney.
Don was born October 17, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of John and Eathel Ramey Dunlap. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Don married Jane Heller on October 6, 1984 in Springfield, IL. He worked for the IRS for 29 years. Don served in the US Army during the Korean War. He belonged to the VFW post #5302, the Athens Christian Church Men's Club and the Athens Christian Church.
Besides his love for his wife and children, Don had a passion for old cars. He has requested as many as possible to drive in his funeral procession. Don was a patient, kind and caring person. He never complained about things and was always considerate of others. He liked trivia, the Cardinals, and loved his Lord. He will be greatly missed but is rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.
Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
