Ruth V. Claar, 91, Hollidaysburg, died early Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Dixie, in Portage.
She was born in Woodbury, daughter of Warren and Minnie (Mangas) Dunkle. She married Paul B. Claar on May 8, 1940, in Brookes Mills, and he died March 15, 1999, after 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Dixie Burkhart (Vince) of Portage and Margaret Shroyer (Harry) of Hyndman; three sons: David L. of Frankstown, Lee E. (Trudy) of Canoe Creek and Donald W. of Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children: Dolly Neff and Paul James; two grandsons: James W. Claar and Ronnie Paul Claar; a granddaughter, Karen Eileen Claar; and a great-grandson, Michael Burkhart Jr.
Ruth retired after 30 years as an executive housekeeper in Lancaster. She attended Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church.
At Ruth's request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Leamersville.
Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
