Feb 14, 1882, Philadelphia [married Richard Leo Walsh], Mary b. Feb. 1884, Phil., Joseph b. Sept 1885, Phil., James b. July 20, 1887, Phil., d. July 20, 1887, Edward, b. Sept 5, 1888, Phil.,[married Frances McCormick], Margaret b. Nov., 1890, Phil., Catherine b. July 1892, Phil., [married a Devlin], Agnes b. May 17, 1894, Phil., and Bernard b. March 9, 1896 Phil., d. September 1981 in Alabama, married 1st Elizabeth Lyland, 2nd Agnes Thompson] The names of Devlin, Kelly and Walsh are a few of the family names that is remembered that the girls married.

1900 - Philadelphia Census, Edward, 11, with parents James and Mary, siblings, John, 22, Mary 16, Joseph 14, Margaret 10, Catherine 7, Agnes 6 and Bernard 4.

1902 - James Dugan, his father, died it is believed, on September 5, which was Edward's birthday. He was a teenager, and after the death of his father he boxed in order to help take care of his family. He did not want his mother to know this, so he boxed under an assumed name.

1917c - Married Frances McCormick [MacCormack], daughter of Dennis McCormick and Honorè Day. Father of Honorè Jane [Nora] Dugan Wilcox, and Mary Veronica [Ronnie] Dugan Dauth.

1920 - Philadelphia Census, Edward Dugan with wife Frances Dugan, two daughters, Nora 2, Mary 8 months. Edward states father b. England, mother b. Ireland. Frances states she is b. in WV, father born VA, mother b. KY.

1920 - 1922 - Sometime in this time period their marriage broke up.

1930 - Could not find him on a census.

1936 - June 1 --- Application for Social Security states his father's name as James Dugan, his mother's name as Mary Connell. Birth year is different, states September 5, 1883, rather than September 5, 1888. Note that the Social Security Number issued is the same number that is on his Death Record of 1966 issued in Philadelphia.

1940 - Philadelph Census, Edward Dugan, 53, b. PA, Lodger, states married. [He never remarried and always said that he was married even though Frances remarried.] Several other people are living in this boarding house. His occupation stated, "painter." This helps to confirm that this is the correct Edward Dugan because on his daughter Honorè's 1939 marriage application she states that her father's occupation as "painter."

For years he had his own pretzel cart on the streets of Philadelphia. On one of the family trips back there, his daughter and grandchildren surprised him by walking up and asking for a pretzel. The look on his face when he recognized them was priceless.

One of the stories he liked to tell is how when he was either in his 70's or close to it, three thugs attacked him and tried to rob him. He knocked down two of them and the third ran away. He felt his boxing skills saved him from injury. They were probably very surprised that an "old man" defended himself.

1945 - 1966, Eddy made several trips to Corry and Erie, PA to visit his daughter and family. In 1964 he attended the wedding of his grandson. He became a great grandfather in 1965 of which he was very happy.

He greatly enjoyed fishing along the little streams and creeks around Corry and later along Lake Erie. Though, he was not happy the time he caught what is referred to as a "mud puppie" and he thought it was a big lizard or some type of deformed fish.
